US: Former NOM official says marriage equality will happen by next year
A former National Organisation for Marriage official predicted in a recent speech that same-sex marriage will be legal nationwide by next year.
Good As You reports that the former official, Jennifer Roback Morse, recently said in a speech: “I’m just going to go on the record here and forecast: by this time next year, it will be over. As a legal matter, it will be over.”
She added: “There will be same-sex, genderless marriage in every state of the union.”
“If anybody’s here from Texas, I’m sorry. You’re not going to be able to hold out. This is what’s going to happen.”
Morse is the founder of the Ruth Institute, an organisation formally affiliated with NOM, which advocates for an anti-gay definition of marriage.
Morse left NOM in 2013.
Morse first admitted in June that nationwide marriage equality was inevitable.
