US: Oregon federal court says NOM can’t defend the state’s marriage ban
A federal appeals court in Oregon dismissed the National Organisation for Marriage’s effort to appeal a ruling allowing same-sex marriage in the state.
NOM, an anti-gay organisation in the US, asked to defend the state’s marriage on behalf of NOM members in Oregon after the Attorney General announced she would not defend the state’s ban in February.
A judge recently ruled the organisation lacked the standing to defend the case after the organisation admitted it was unable to find anyone willing to back its attempt to defend the marriage ban.
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld that decision Wendesday, dimissing NOM’s appeal.
