Photos: Photo campaign documents LGBT love across the United States
Two photographers are traveling across the United States to photograph, interview and video LGBT couples and families for a project called Love Is Love.
The photographers, Mitch Kitter and Shalem Mathew, say the goal of the campaign is to “bring more love to more people, specifically to states where the prospect of equality for the LGBT community seems insurmountable.”
Love Is Love was funded through a Kickstarter campaign in February.
The photographers are documenting the lives of LGBT couples living in the Midwest and South between now and November.
If the support continues, the pair plans to photograph LGBT couples in all 50 states by next summer.
The pair told Buzzfeed they decided to take on the project after a client of theirs “relayed a story about how she was turned away by local photographers in our area because they were uncomfortable with photographing two women in love.”
The couple plans to compile a photography book once their travels are completed.
