A Slate columnist claimed that married bisexuals should stay in the closet
Emily Yoffe – AKA Dear Prudence – told a reader that coming out the closet would be “irrelevant”, because she’s married to a man.
She said: “Let’s say you discovered a late breaking interest in plushophilia, or you now realized you were turned on by being a dominatrix.
“This would not be news you’d be required to announce at the next Thanksgiving gathering.

Berlin’s out Mayor announced he will step down
Klaus Wowereit, one of Germany’s first prominent gay political figures, has announced that he is to leave office two years early, after 13 years as Mayor.
Mr Wowereit came out prior to his first mayoral election campaign, uttering a phrase now famous in Germany: “I’m gay, and that is a good thing” (“Ich bin schwul und das ist auch gut so”).

The American Family Association released their first film, and it was terrible
The anti-gay group, whose President thinks homosexuals are “gross”, premiered the film on an obscure cable channel after failing to secure distribution.
It stars David Chisum as family man Dan Benson, doing his best impression of Hal from Malcom in the Middle (pre-Heisenberg days).

Facebook introduced a batch of new gender options
The social network started allowing US users to select a number of new family relationships, such as ‘parent’ instead of ‘mother/father’.
The update builds on a change earlier this year, which allowed people to select from a custom range of gender identities, and allowed them to be referred to as ‘they’ in addition to ‘he’ and ‘she’.

Michael Sam was dropped by the St Louis Rams
The first out player in the history of the NFL was cut from the roster of the St Louis Rams, just missing out on a spot on the final team.
Sam said: “I want to thank the entire Rams organization and the city of St. Louis for giving me this tremendous opportunity.”

The Lib Dems announced their support for statutory sex education
Under the party’s new pledge, all state funded schools, including academies and free schools, would be required to teach age appropriate sex and relationship education.
Labour shadow minister Tristram Hunt hit back: “The Liberal Democrats have had four years to deliver this policy. Instead, Nick Clegg has signed up to a raft of damaging measures.”

The BBC censored a lizard lesbian kiss scene from Asian broadcasts of Doctor Who
A scene showing a kiss between a lizard-woman and her human wife was cut from some airings of the sci-fi show, which the BBC claim was to comply with broadcast regulations.
The censored version of the show aired on BBC Entertainment in Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
