Bahamas pride weekend cut short following death threats
Pride weekend in the Bahamas was cut short after a series of death threats.
One the event organisers, Victor Rollins received death threats on his Facebook page reports the Nassau Guardian.
Rollins said he received the threats after posting several pictures on the social-networking site of attendees holding pride flags along with the Bahamas’ flag. He also added that only 11 people showed up to the event, all of whom were foreigners.
The event, which started last Thursday and was set to last until Monday, was “designed to inspire, educate and celebrate the diverse Bahamian LGBT community.”
The low-key events were scheduled to take place on a private beach resort and not a public parade.
Robin intends to file a complaint to the police about the death threats that occurred.
