Baptist pastor: God wants gay people to be put to death
A Southern Baptist pastor has claimed that God would want gay people to be put to death.
Robby Gallaty, senior pastor of the large Brainerd Baptist Church, Tennessee, made the comments in a sermon.
He said: “Homosexuality is an attack on the family and the marriage. It’s the most lethal attack we have today against the family, and if the enemy can ruin the family, he wins.
“God said that the sins of the people had infected the very land in which they live, so what happens to people who engage in this activity, this sexual immoral activity?
“Go to Leviticus 20, God gives us the punishment for engaging in these sins.
“If a man sleeps with a man as with a woman, they have both committed a detestable thing. They must be put to death. And their blood is on their own hands.
“It’s not a trivial matter. It doesn’t take a degree to realise God’s stance.”
He added: “[The New Testament says] some of you used to act like this, but now you’ve changed by the grace of God.
“You were washed! You have been sanctified! You have been justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by the Spirit of God.”
“If you’re currently engaged in immoral sexual activity, there’s healing for you in Christ.
“You’re not a homosexual, listen to me! You’re not gay! You’re not a lesbian! You’re a child of God!”
Earlier this year, a church in New York City claimed: “Jesus would stone homos. Stoning is still the law.”
