Out US actress Sara Gilbert has announced that she and her new wife are expecting a child.
The star, who had a recurring role on The Big Bang Theory as Leslie Winkle, married her partner, songwriter Linda Perry, in March.
Gilbert revealed her pregnancy on daytime talk show The Talk yesterday, after being dared to lie on a bed of nails and have a cinderblock broken on her stomach as part of a ‘Face your Fears’ segment.
She said: “Before we go I just want to say I’m actually not going to do the dare, and I’m going to tell you guys why.
“I was scared to do it and I really believe in facing your fears and doing things that make you uncomfortable, but I actually can’t do the dare… because I’m pregnant.”
The audience loudly cheered the announcement, while Gilbert was congratulated on-screen by her co-hosts, including Sharon Osborne.
The host said that she was “really tired” in the earlier stages of pregnancy, but added: “I feel good, I feel really good!”
Gilbert famously played the character Darlene in US sitcom Roseanne in the 1980s and 1990s.
The actress has two children, Levi and Sawyer, from a previous relationship with producer and writer Allison Adler.
Gilbert and Perry met in 2011 and got engaged last year.
