Watch: Straight guy get emotional after gay teen was disowned by family
A straight YouTuber has been moved to tears after watching a video of a gay teenager who was kicked out after he came out as gay to his parents.
Chris Thompson of California recorded a video for his YouTube channel reflecting on a viral video last week, during which a gay teenager was abused verbally and physically, after he came out as gay to his parents.
To begin with, Thompson says: “I don’t know what it’s like to go through the coming out process because I am straight, but this goes far beyond whether you’re gay or you’re straight. This is a human issue – no human should be treated they way this person was treated.”
Then, as he reads out viewers’ responses to his question: “If you could choose to be gay or straight, what would you choose,” he wells up
One anonymous responder said: “Not many people know that I’m gay. If I had a choice, I’d choose to be straight because as a gay I feel empty and less than other men. I just found rejection from people, even my parents (they love me, but they hate the fact that I’m gay), and even God dislikes that so… I’m so fucked up.”
Another said: “Nobody would choose to become a second-class citizen and to get death threats and not be accepted by their own family.”
