John Travolta: Gay affair rumours ‘just about people wanting money’
John Travolta has claimed that allegations he had a gay affair are just about “people wanting money”.
The star is currently embroiled in a legal battle with former employee Douglas Gotterba, who plans to write a tell-all book alleging that he had a six-year relationship with Travolta in the 1970s.
It is the latest in the string of legal cases surrounding the star’s sexuality, after claims he sexually assaulted male masseurs were dismissed by a court in 2012.
The Grease star told the Daily Beast: “This is every celebrity’s Achilles heel.
“It’s just about people wanting money. That’s all. It happens on many levels.
He added: “I don’t care that much about it. Other people may attack it back more than I do, but I let all the media stuff go a long time ago because I can’t control it.
“I think that’s why it persists, to some degree.”
“I found it most offensive with the loss of my son.
“Sex stuff is always going to be interesting to somebody, but you stay away from family.
“You really should. With that, I always felt like the media—not all of the media, but parts of it—went too low there.”
