US: Indiana court stays ruling on same-sex marriage
Same-sex marriages in Indiana are being postponed as a federal appeals court stays a decision that ruled Indiana’s ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional.
If the Supreme Court decides to not hear the appeal, the stay will be terminated.
The 7th US Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago’s September ruling also found Wisconsin’s ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional. Monday’s order does not address Wisconsin however because the state remains under a stay from the district court pending the outcome of the appeal.
Indiana is one of 32 states petitioning the US Supreme Court to decide on same-sex marriage.
