One Direction singer Liam Payne: Saying I’m not gay doesn’t make me a homophobe
One Direction singer Liam Payne has said that he is “not a homophobe” for denying rumours about his sexuality.
The Best Song Ever singer made the claims after a photoshopped picture of him naked with another man was circulated among the band’s fans.
He said: “I’m 100% not homophobic.
“But I’m also 100% not gay so when somebody says I am I’m gunna say I’m not which does not make me a homophobe.”
He added: “as if people think that weird photo going around is actually me lol think id (sic) rather tweet a full frontal than have people look at that”.
Payne faced a backlash on Twitter earlier this year, after sending a message of support to the son of homophobic Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson, which praises “the family values you still all behold.”
After the reality star questioned why gay men would prefer “a man’s anus” over a vagina, Payne tweeted: “huge love to you/your family huge respect for your business prosperities and the family values you still all behold”.
Earlier this month, One Direction singer Harry Styles showed his support for gay NFL player Michael Sam by wearing his St Louis Rams jersey – just days before Sam was cut by the team.
Last week One Direction singer Niall Horan laughed off rumours about his sexuality, after a Vine clip appeared to show him getting intimate with another man.
