Ricky Martin comes up with flawless answer when son asks ‘was I in your belly?’
Ricky Martin has recounted the perfect way he explained surrogacy to his son.
The out pop singer, who became the father of twins Matteo and Valentino in 2008, made the comments in an interview on the Enrique Santos Show.
When asked about the “most difficult” questions his six-year-old sons asked him, he said: “He asked ‘Dad, was I in your belly?’ — and I told him, ‘you were in my heart and you are still in my heart’.
“So I explained further, because I couldn’t just leave it at that: ‘There was a woman that I adore with all my heart that helped me bring you into this world. She lent me her belly so that you could come and when you were born she put you in my arms’.
“And he said ‘ah, ok’ and he kept playing.”
In June, he flipped the pronouns in a song while performing in Morocco, singing about a gay lover despite homosexuality being criminalised in the country
Halfway through ‘She’s All I Ever Had’, the openly gay singer began to flip lyrics to ‘he’, singing: “It’s the way he makes me feel/It’s the only thing that’s real It’s the way he understands/He’s my lover, he’s my friend/When I look into his eyes it’s the way I feel inside /Like the man I want to be/He’s all I ever need.”
