Gay blogger Andrew Sullivan: Almost every man hates condoms
Political blogger Andrew Sullivan has claimed that “almost every man” hates using condoms.
The writer, who previously worked for the Daily Beast, made the claims while talking about the range of different HIV drugs available.
He wrote on The Dish: “”Here are your options: the blue pill or the red pill. Take the one-pill-a-day Truvada and never get HIV; take the often one-pill anti-retroviral pill (like atripla), and you will never give someone HIV.
“To make doubly sure, you can always use a condom.
“Except almost every man who ever had sex hates condoms – and, unlike a pill you take every day, wearing a condom means making a decision in the middle of sexual desire and passion when your rational self is at its weakest.”
Earlier this year, Sullivan said he was “appalled” at the resignation of Firefox CEO Brendan Eich, who quit over backlash to his support for anti-gay marriage campaigners.
Mr Sullivan wrote: “Will he now be forced to walk through the streets in shame? Why not the stocks? The whole episode disgusts me – as it should disgust anyone interested in a tolerant and diverse society.
“If this is the gay rights movement today – hounding our opponents with a fanaticism more like the religious right than anyone else – then count me out.”
