Stephen Fry quits Twitter over safety concerns
Gay actor, presenter and broadcaster Stephen Fry has temporarily quit Twitter over safety concerns.
The vocal LGBT and human rights activist tweeted today to say he was “in a place” where he was advised not to use the microblogging platform.
Fry said he will be back on Twitter in December, when the filming is finished, but did not specify where he was or what he was filming.

This is not the first time he has taken a break from Twitter, as in 2009 he threatened to leave permanently over what he said was “too much aggression and unkindness”.
He also left for a few hours earlier this year after admitting in his memoir that he took cocaine in Buckingham Palace.
Some followers called for his arrest on drug charges, but Fry said on Newsnight with Evan Davis that there is a “huge moral difference” between historical drug use and cases of sexual abuse.
He said: “If people think I should be arrested for historical drug abuse, that’s fine. I’m the only person I hurt.”
Some speculated that Fry was filming for the new Star Wars film.
