Julian Clary: UKIP aren’t using enough lube for gay sex
Comedian Julian Clary brought the house down at last night’s Stonewall Awards with a risqué joke about Nigel Farage’s support for Roger Helmer.
Clary, who was hosting the event, referenced the UKIP leader’s remarks in May when he said most people who are aged over 70 feel “uncomfortable” with homosexuality.
Mr Farage had defended 70-year-old UKIP MEP Roger Helmer who had previously suggested gay relationships are “viscerally repugnant”.
As he prepared to introduce Labour leader Ed Miliband, who was presenting an award to former MEP and Stonewall co-founder Lord Cashman, Clary quipped: “Nigel Farage says anyone over the age of 70 finds homosexuality uncomfortable – they’re not using enough lube.”
Ed Miliband – who presented a Lifetime Achievement award to Lord Cashman at the PinkNews awards last week – laughed at the joke.
Clary then harked back to his infamous joke about senior Tory Norman Lamont at the 1993 British Comedy Awards by saying of today’s political leaders: “I’ve fisted them all!”.
