Controversy over US billboard which claims: ‘Nobody is born gay’
A new anti-gay billboard has been erected in the US state of Virginia, which reads: “Nobody is born gay.”
The billboard was bought by Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX), and was put up in Richmond, Virginia on a busy highway.
It shows a picture of two men, and is captioned with the message: “Identical twins: One gay. One not. We believe twins research studies show nobody is born gay.”
Condemned by users on Twitter and Facebook, the billboard has drawn attention for promoting the idea that sexuality can be changed or homosexuality can be “cured”.
The organisation’s website states: “We believe that every person seeking positive life change needs and deserves the love and support of family, friends, the community, and the church.
“That’s why we offer a place for help, a place for truth, and a place for the ex-gay to participate in the conversation about same-sex attraction.”
