Sony Pictures reportedly cut parts of a scene featuring a bisexual orgy out of the released version of The Interview.

The film, whichĀ revolves around a fictional plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, was controversiallyĀ pulled from cinemas after terrorists threats this month –Ā but eventually given a limited release.

However, Sony made a number of cuts to the film to attempt to appease the film’s critics, removing parts of a scene implyingĀ the country’s supreme leader engaged in a bisexual orgy with James Franco’s character and four women.

The film’s final script – which leaked onlineĀ after a cyber-attack – states of the scene: “Dave and Kim are in a bed naked, with the four women. Theyā€™re all playing MORTAL KOMBAT”.

PinkNews has verifiedĀ that the bulk of the scene was not present in the version of the film released online on Christmas Day – though briefĀ scenesĀ showing the groupĀ playing ‘spin the bottle’ and naked basketball immediately beforehand wereĀ kept in.

According to the Sunday Times, Sony staff referred to the release as a “redacted version”, and hope to restore the orgy sequences and other controversial moments toĀ a “director’s cut” DVD release in the future.

The film has come under fireĀ of its homophobic portrayal of the Kim Jong-un (played by Randall Park), who is shown to like drinking Ā “gay” martinis and listening to Katy Perry, and is easily brought to tears during a TV interview.

Eminem also makes a surreal cameo at the start of the film, when the rapper casually mentions heā€™s gay while explaining the lyrical content of his songs.

He says: “When I say things about gay people, or people think my lyrics are homophobic ā€“ itā€™s because I’m gay.

“I’m more shocked with people havenā€™t figured it out now. I mean, itā€™s kind of like Iā€™ve been playing gay peek-a-boo.”
