UKIP MEP David Coburn has claimed that “equality Nazis” in the Labour and Liberal Democrat parties are trying to ban sex.

The Scottish MEP – who is the party’s most senior gay politician – made the claim to Rory Bremner during BBC Scotland retrospectiveĀ ‘The Rory Review’.

He said: “If you want an authoritarian party, there’s nobody more authoritarian than the Lib Dems or Labour party.

“They’ll tell you eat your five a day, no smoking, no drinking, no sex, no nothing.

When questioned on banning sex, he added: “They’re getting round to it. What I call the equality Nazis, people who want everyone to fit into their stereotypes.”

Rory Bremner joked: “Where do you even begin to reason with that?”

Mr Coburn recently revealed he would run for Parliament against former SNP leader Alex Salmond, who is set to stand in the seat of Gordon, Aberdeenshire.

Despite being gay, the UKIP MEP is a fierce critic of the gay rights movement,Ā claiming in October that same-sex marriage supporters are ā€œequality Nazisā€.

He ranted: ā€œWhat youā€™re doing with the gay marriage issue is youā€™re rubbing peopleā€™s noses in the dirt.

Itā€™s] the equality Nazis trying to give Christianity a jolly good kicking. You know it, I know it, we all know it ā€“ itā€™s false bollocks, the lot of it.

ā€œItā€™s just for some queen who wants to dress up in a bridal frock and in a big moustache and dance up the aisle to the Village People.ā€

In September, Mr Coburn previously accused the SNP of being ā€œfascistā€, and controversially compared Alex Salmond to Robert Mugabe.
