Town rallies to provide terminally ill trans woman’s dream wedding
A town has rallied to fulfill the dying wish of a terminally ill trans woman, who wants to marry her female partner.
Parma Bertoli has less than 12 months to live after being diagnosed with a brain tumour, and had made plans to marry her fiancee Stephanie Nickles in February.
The Worcester-based couple – who are both transgender – have stood by eachother for more than a decade as they transitioned.
They appealed for help with their dream wedding earlier this week.
After an influx of generosity, which saw members of the local community and local business donate items to the pair, they can go ahead with the ceremony next month.
Ms Bertoli told Worcester News: “I feel stunned and overjoyed.
“So many people have rallied around to help us in our predicament and we both want to express our thanks and gratitude for their tremendous support.
“The wedding is long over-due. We had bought rings in the past but had to sell them due to financial problems – but now can look forward to a brilliant day.”
Ms Nickles added: “I never thought so many people would come forward to help and I have been taken aback by it all.
“It is going to be a fantastic occasion that we thought was never going to happen.”
