Sorry, you probably haven’t won a date with Tom Daley
A winner has been selected in a competition to win a date with Tom Daley – and unfortunately it’s probably not you.
The Olympic diver and screenwriter boyfriend Dustin Lance Black offered a double date as part of a competition for the Human Rights Campaign in the US, and the Brain Tumour Charity in the UK.
They promised of the experience: “You’ll spend the morning poolside with Lance cheering on Tom at diving practice.
“Next, you’ll explore the city, from ice skating at Somerset House to High Tea at The Ritz.
“After sightseeing, a professional styling session will have you looking smashing for our dinner at one of the best restaurants in town.
“And to wrap up the night? We’ll show you some of our favourite local spots.”
The competition attracted a lot of attention from fans of the diver and Milk screenwriter – and earlier this month, Solomon N. from Santa Barbara, California was drawn to win the prize.
Solomon said: “I lost my father at about the same age as Tom did and connected to his experience and understanding how quickly one grows up when something like that happens.
“My heart went out to his cause and felt drawn to help. Dustin’s background is a little similar to my own. Growing up in a Christian conservative home and the process of coming out and risking it all to be true to myself.
“There are many out there not as lucky as I was and HRC has been doing an amazing job to create awareness and acceptance of the LGBT community.
“Dustin has been an inspiration with his activism. He is beautiful to watch as he speaks with such passion and conviction.
“It’s hard not to be drawn to people like him. Of course their being gorgeous was icing on the cake.
“Who wouldn’t want to hang out with such good looking studs who come off so well adjusted in the public eye with all its pressures. I cannot wait!”
The Human Rights Campaign said: “Solomon, and many others, made a contribution for a chance to win the trip. Proceeds went to HRC and The Brain Tumour Charity.
“Congratulations to Solomon and thanks to all who donated to support these two important causes.”
The campaign raised in excess of $200,000.
