Naomi Campbell: I wouldn’t exist without gay men
Supermodel Naomi Campbell has said that she “wouldn’t exist” without gay men.
The model made the comments to GLAAD, ahead of her role on TV show Empire.
She said: “When I got on the red carpet [at the GLAAD awards] people said ‘Why are you here?’
“I said ‘Why shouldn’t I be here?’ If it wasn’t for gay men I wouldn’t exist’.
“Hair, make-up, designer, photographer, stylist, manicure, hair-dresser, I mean, I just wouldn’t exist.
“I owe my life to gay men. And it’s just what I’ve grown up with. It’s my family.
Naomi Campbell added: “And along with GLAAD, I encourage even more diversity in the fashion world, that includes welcoming trans models to the runways.
“Much love Lea T and also to Carmen Carrera. She’s in the fashion magazines W, Italian Vogue and also just to note the recent Barney’s campaign.
“The truth is LGBT culture and fashion go hand in hand. They flourish in light of making bold and brave statements.”
