Congratulations! Stephen Fry marries stand-up comedian Elliott Spencer
Stephen Fry has married his partner, stand-up comedian Elliott Spencer.
The pair married today – two weeks after they first revealed their engagement.
The QI host posted a picture of the ceremony to Twitter this afternoon, writing: “Gosh. @ElliottGSpencer and I go into a room as two people, sign a book and leave as one. Amazing.”
The pair appear to have opted for a low-key civil ceremony, signing the marriage register together in Dereham, Norwich.
Mr Fry is wearing a grey suit with a multi-coloured tie, while Mr Spencer is dressed in black, with a blue tie.
The pair’s ceremony was ‘witnessed’ by a small model of playwright Oscar Wilde.
Mr Fry said: “Oh and @ElliottGSpencer and I had our vows witnessed by a mini Oscar Wilde. Because one should. #greencarnations”
The comedian serves on the board of directors of Norwich City football club, with some speculating that the pair attended the team’s game against Cardiff City directly after the ceremony.
A number of the pair’s friends have tweeted to congratulate them.
Bloody hell it’s happened! @ElliottGSpencer has made an honest man of m’col. Love and happiness to all!!

The news of the pair’s engagement was first broken by British tabloid newspapers earlier this month.
Mr Fry said at the time: “Oh. It looks as though a certain cat is out of a certain bag. I’m very very happy of course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!”
However, the pair appear to have been granted their wish of a private wedding – with no press reports until Mr Fry revealed the nuptials himself.
