Homophobic graffiti targets lesbian couple and child days after their house was flooded
A lesbian couple and their teenage daughter in Tasmania were targeted by hateful homophobic graffiti just days after evacuating their home due to flooding.
The home of Lavinia Pike, her partner and teenage daughter, was targeted by the slurs which read “lesbos”, “sluts”, and “poofta”.
The words were spraypainted on the carpet and walls of Pike’s home, and was only discovered when she went back to the property to feed their animals, reports the Examiner.
Pike, who has chronic asthma and an acquired brain injury said they were “disgusted and angry”, about the graffiti and “also disappointed”.
“We’ve put up with a lot of crap. I’m already sick, I’m already depressed and anxious and now this on top,” she said.
During the attack, a computer was also stolen from the property.
The police in Tasmania are investigating the attack, and those with information are encouraged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
