Former ITV weatherman Fred Talbot propositioned a 15-year-old boy after telling him it is okay to be gay, a court heard.
The 65-year-old weatherman is accused of abusing five boys, from the 1960s until the 1980s, while a biology teacher at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys.
Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court heard that the former teacher told 15-year-old Alan Maslen that he would be “happy to oblige” if he wanted to experiment with men.
Mr Maslen – who was not assaulted by Mr Talbot – gave witness testimony today.
He told the court: “On one occasion he told me of his bisexuality and if I ever had thoughts of having sexual contact with boys or men, it’s not to be ashamed of.
“If ever I was interested in experimentation in sexual activity with another male, then I should look no further and he would be happy to oblige.”
He claims that while his band were rehearsing in Mr Talbot’s basement, he found himself alone with the teacher.
Mr Maslen claims the teacher propositioned him, and said: “You know what I want to do with you, don’t you?”
The witness continued: “I sprang to my feet with my electric guitar, swung it around and shouted as loudly as I could, then he stopped.”
Defense attorney Suzanne Goddard QC claimed the passage of time had “clouded” his judgement.
Mr Talbot denies all charges.
The trial continues.
