WATCH: Sam Smith reveals moving new pro-marriage equality video
Sam Smith has revealed the new video for his song ‘Lay Me Down’ which he has dedicated to the hope that “one day gay men and women and trans men and women all over the world will be able to get married.”
In the video, Smith, who recently split up with Jonathan Zeizel two weeks after going public with their relationship, gets married in a church setting as dozens look on.
Writing on social media about the video launch, he said: “This song holds a very dear place in my heart. With this video myself and Ryan Hope the director have decided to make a statement and showcase something we passionately believe in. This video shows my dreams that one day gay men and women and transgendered men and women all over the world, like all our straight families and friends, will be able to get married under any roof, in any city, in any town, in any village, in any country. I hope you enjoy it. I love you all x.”
The ‘Stay With Me’ singer came out in May last year, when he revealed that his album ‘In the Lonely Hour’ was about a man he fell in love with.
He later revealed that the man he wrote the album for was straight and uninterested – and spoken about his dating woes.
