First out trans model featured in Germany’s Next Topmodel
The next cycle of Germany’s Next Topmodel will feature a trans model.
25-year-old Pari will be the programme’s first out transgender contestant in the new series beginning on 12 February.
She will hit the runway and be judged by supermodel Heidi Klum, and the panel.
Pari has Iranian parents, was raised in the Netherlands, and told BILD that she came out to her boyfriend as transgender after they were together for two weeks.
She said: “He was a bit surprised at first, but he reacted like a true gentleman.”
After being asked by one journalist whether she was “100% female”, Pari said: “I’m a woman and have, technically, always been a woman.”
The aspiring model also gave an amazing response to the tabloid journalist who rudely asked her whether she is ‘100% female’.
“People always want to know what is hiding in transsexual people’s pants. In my opinion that’s really brash. I don’t ask you what is hiding in your pants.”
Despite Pari being the first out contestant in Germany, the franchise has featured other transgender models, as in 2008, Isis King featured on the US version of the programme, finishing 10th.
Last year Tyra Banks put one male model in his place after he made disparaging comments about a fellow contestant because he is gay.
