Texas to perform at Manchester Pride
Scottish rock band Texas will perform at this year’s Manchester Pride, organisers have announced.
The Glaswegian rockers, famed for hits like ‘I Don’t Want A Lover’ and ‘Halo’, will headline the Pride main stage on August Bank Holiday weekend.
Chief Executive of Manchester Pride, Mark Fletcher, said: “2015 marks the 25th anniversary of events celebrating LGBT life in Manchester across the August Bank Holiday weekend. It’s an incredibly special year and the Manchester Pride year-round events calendar will reflect this important anniversary.
“We look forward to welcoming thousands of people to the City over the Big Weekend as we continue with our fundraising aims to raise as much as possible for the various organisations that we support.”
Weekend tickets for Pride are currently £18.
Texas, fronted by legendary singer Sharleen Spiteri, celebrate their 25th anniversary this year.
The singer is known for having a large lesbian fanbase, and her songs have been featured in the L Word and used as the title track to 90s US sitcom Ellen in which she made a cameo.
