Campaign started to have Kylie represent Australia at Eurovision
A campaign has been started for Australia to recruit Kylie Minogue to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015.
In celebration of the competitionās 60th birthday, as well as in the spirit of building bridges, the country has been granted the right to compete by Eurovisionās governing body.
The total number of countries being represented in the Grand Final of the 2015 competition will now be 40.
A petition on Change.org calls for Kylie to represent Australia at the competition.
It reads: “Because is the first time and the last one AustraliaĀ will take to the stage and compete in the popular song contest as it marks its 60th anniversary. Kylie is the symbol of that country, the best pop singer in the world and, for sure, theĀ Spanish community will support her in Vienna next May.
“And, finally, because WE LOVE KYLIE!!!!”
At time of publication, 300 supporters had signed the petition.
A second petition has been started to have now disbanded rock band This Is Serious Mum represent Australia was quickly shot down as a former member of the band said it would not regroup for the competition.
The Austrian pop diva took home the crown lastĀ year, to the dismay of some conservative countries. The next contest is set to be held in Vienna inĀ May 2015.
WurstĀ performed a set in early OctoberĀ at the European Parliament in Brussels, and the same month performed at the United Nations āĀ where she met UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.
Following herĀ victory, Russia developed plans to reviveĀ a Soviet era Eurovision rival as a āfamily friendlyāĀ alternative,Ā but the idea was quietly dropped this summer.
