Laverne Cox cast in new CBS legal drama
Laverne Cox has been cast in a new legal drama by US network CBS.
The out trans, ‘Orange is the New Black’, star will co-star in ‘Doubt’.
The decision to cast Cox in the role of Cameron Worth will see her play an intelligent, successful defence lawyer who gets involved with one of her clients.
The casting has been hailed as a milestone for diversity on US TV, and the role was created specifically for Cox.
‘Doubt’ will be written by Grey’s Anatomy alumni Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, and it will be produced by Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly.
As well as being nominated for an Emmy for her role as Sophia Burset in OITNB, Cox also featured on the cover of TIME magazine.
