Florida Attorney General branded ‘Cruella de Vil’ for crusade against equal marriage
Celebrity chefĀ Art Smith has hit out at Florida’s Attorney General Pam Bondi, for her battleĀ against same-sex marriage.
Ms Bondi ā whoĀ is reportedly married to her third husband – continued to fight against same-sex marriage up until the weekĀ weddingsĀ came intoĀ effectĀ in December,Ā filing desperate legal attempts to stall theĀ impending ceremonies.
InĀ one of her numerous court documentsĀ on the issue,Ā Bondi claimed that same-sex marriage wouldĀ cause āsignificant harmā to the public.
Celebrity chef Art Smith held a mass same-sex wedding onĀ Miami Beach yesterday, for over 20 Florida couples.
Taking a swipe at the politician, he said: “We have our own Cruella de Vil, Pam Bondi. She was determined that she was going to prevent equality from coming to Florida
“For a state known for sunshine, it was living in the darkness when it came to LGBT rights and it was important to acknowledge that.”
Fellow celebrity chef Guy Fieri – who hosts Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives for the Food Network – also officiated at the mass wedding.
Stephanie Swanson, who married her partner Nicole Griffin on Saturday, said: “[Bondi] fought so hard.
“She denied us for so long … I think our presence today and being able to do this is a defeat of that mentality.”
