London police appeal for information in violent homophobic attempted robbery
Police in the London borough of Kensington and Chelsea are appealing for witnesses and information in a violent attempted robbery.
Detectives note that at approximately 03:35 on Saturday 14 February, a 38-year-old victim was approached by three men on St Charles Place at its junction with Chesterton Road.
Before attempting to steal the man’s phone and ring, the man was subjected to homophobic abuse.
After being pushed to the ground, he was kicked and punched, and while he did not require hospital treatment, he sustained facial injuries.
Trainee Detective Constable Rhys Williams, from Kensington and Chelsea Borough’s Community Safety Unit, said: “The victim was subjected to homophobic abuse before being kicked and beaten.
“I would urge anyone who saw the assault or men matching the description of the suspects in the area to contact police. I am particularly keen to speak with a man and woman who approached the victim shortly after the attack to check on his welfare.”
The suspects were described by detectives as black men in their 20s, and were all wearing grey tracksuits. One was wearing a blue cap with a white Adidas logo.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 020 8246 0226 or via 101. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via crimestoppers-uk.org.
