Russian police raid club owned by ‘lesbian selfie’ woman
Russian police raided the lesbian nightclub Infinity, run by the woman who kissed her girlfriend in a viral photo.
The club was raided yesterday, reportedly for allowing under-age people to enter, and allowing the sale of illegal drugs. The club is owned by Kseniya Infinity who was one of two women who took a selfie kissing on a plane with Senator Vitaly Milonov in background.
Mr Milonov is a notoriously homophobic politician who was one of the sponsors of the “gay propaganda” bill. He was pictured behind the kissing activists, and then tried to hide behind his tablet.
After the picture went viral, Senator Milanov said: “This shows that these people are not of a normal sexual orientation, but that their sexual deviance shows in all aspects of their lives. I didn’t understand what they are doing but they have a nice sense of humour.
“I also have a good sense of humour. I will perhaps continue this joke by closing their gay club in St. Petersburg, or ban them from having meetings in public places, that’s also a funny step.” He also called them “mentally ill”.
Anti-gay group Moscow Isn’t Sodom and Petersburg Isn’t Gomorrah had called on the public to make complaints about the club in the wake of the photo. They said: “It was precisely this nightclub’s staff who staged a provocation a few days ago. Before the eyes of everyone on board a flight from Moscow to St. Petersburg, they demonstrated their perverse inclinations, causing a scandal on the Internet.”
