1. CNN pundit Sally Kohn claimed she would like her daughter to be a lesbian
She wrote: “I’m gay. And I want my kid to be gay, too.
“Many of my straight friends, even the most liberal, see this logic as warped. It’s one thing for them to admit that they would prefer their kids to be straight, something they’ll only begrudgingly confess. But wanting my daughter to be a lesbian?
“I might as well say I want her to grow up to be lactose intolerant.”
2. A study found HIV-preventing drugs can be 86% effective
The PROUD study found that PrEP drug Truvada was effective when taken by healthy gay men.
Researchers said PrEP “offers a major opportunity to curb new HIV infections in men who have sex with men in the UK.”
3. Michael Sam trolled a reporter with fake Game of Thrones wedding plans
When accosted by TMZ, the out NFL star revealed plans to marry in “Westeros”, and will invite “Tyrion Lannister and Tommen Baratheon” to his wedding.
Both Sam and his fiancé Vito Cammisano struggled to contain their laughter when the pap asked: “Is this in Greece? It sounds like a Greek thing.”
4. A hate group published a creepy map to the offices of LGBT charities
The American Family Association launched a “bigotry map” to identify “groups and organizations that openly display bigotry toward the Christian faith”
The map gives directions to the offices linked with a number of groups, including branches of the Human Rights Campaign which campaign on gay rights.
5. UKIP’s LGBT chair quit the party over ‘failure’ to set a gay-friendly tone
Tom Booker, who was the chair of LGBTQ* in UKIP, told PinkNews: “I found that I couldn’t defend the party or convincingly campaign for it any more.
“I stepped down from my position as Founder-Chairman of LGBT* in UKIP, and resigned my membership of UKIP, due to disillusionment of policy direction and dissatisfaction at the failure of the leadership to set a gay-friendly tone.”
6. Facebook introduced ‘infinite’ gender options
The social network rolled out a change to US users – allowing people free range to pick their own gender identity, without having to choose from a pre-selected list.
A statement said: “We recognize that some people face challenges sharing their true gender identity with others, and this setting gives people the ability to express themselves in an authentic way.”
7. UKIP started recycling its apologies for homophobia
UKIP appeared to recycle a statement from a month ago, after homophobic leaflets were distributed at its party conference.
Their statement condemning the leaflets was identical to one released by the party about a separate incident nearly a month ago.
