Ghana: Lawyer calls for arrest of students in gay porn movies
A lawyer in Ghana has called for the immediate arrest of students who take part in pornographic movies.
Gary Nimako made the comments in response to an investigation by local media, which claimed of a “festering underground gay porn movie industry in Ghana in which mostly male university students and jobless young men are preyed upon by foreign producers and their Ghanaian collaborators.”
Ghana Web reports that students of the University of Ghana in Accra have been identified in 10 of such gay porn movies which are in the possession of local radio station StarrFM.
Mr Nimako told Starr News: “People are aware that the society frowns upon it…they have engaged in an illegality and they must be arrested”.
Police officials in Ghana have launched an investigation and it’s claimed the students have gone into hiding.
Same-sex sexual activity between men is illegal in Ghana with those found guilty facing up to 3 years in prison.
It is unclear in Ghanaian law whether same-sex sexual activity among females is illegal.
