Hacker tricks straight guys on Tinder into flirting with eachother
A computer programmer has designed an exploit to that uses hook-up app Tinder to trick straight men into flirting with eachother.
According to the Verge, the California-based programmer – who has not been named – created the hack that relayed messages back and forward between unsuspecting men.
His bot uses a female profile with stock images – but rather than have a genuine woman on the other end, it instead pairs up male users who reply and relays their messages to each-other.
The programmer, who is straight, said he originally intended to create a bot to expose the degrading way men treat women on the app, saying: “The original idea was to throw that back into the face of the people doing it to see how they would react.”
However, the idea went off course – when most of the men entirely failed to realise they weren’t actually talking to a woman.
In a few cases, the programmer had to step in when a few of the unsuspecting pairs even tried to make plans to meet up.
He said: “They ignore all the signs, they ignore all the weird things.
“When someone is so quick to meet up without any detail or know anything about the person at all… maybe it’s deserved.”
He added: “Tinder makes it surprisingly easy to bot their system.
“As long as you have a Facebook authentication token, you can behave as a robot as if you were a person.”
