Heather Peace expecting a child with her wife
Actress and musician Heather Peace has announced that she is expecting a daughter with her wife Ellie.
The out Waterloo Road and Lip Service star, who entered into a civil partnership with long-term girlfriend Ellie in 2013 and converted to a marriage last year, broke the news at a concert in Brighton last night.
Confirming the news on Twitter, she wrote: “Brighton gig. Thank you. So thrilled to share the news with you.
“Ellie is pregnant with our daughter and she arrives in 3 weeks. EXCITED!!!
“Thank you so much for all of your beautiful messages to myself & [Ellie] on the imminent arrival of our baby. We are so lucky. Xx”
She said: “I knew there could be no better place in Europe to create a Rainbow Crossing than in my home town of Brighton.
“We Can Change is my big gay anthem. It’s an empowering tribute to equality and I wanted the crossing to be a beautiful symbol to represent that during LGBT Pride month.
“It’s a gift from me to anyone that embraces diversity.”
The temporary crossing has since been removed – but the council is said to be discussing proposals to bring it back as a permanent fixture.
Update: An earlier version of this article referred to Ellie as Mrs Peace’s “partner”, as it was believed the pair were still in a civil partnership. It has since emerged that they have converted their partnership to a marriage, and so the phrasing has been amended accordingly.
