UKIP candidate blames ‘Facebook hack’ for homophobic and racist comments
A UKIP candidate has blamed a āhackerā for posting offensive remarks on his Facebook page ā that were written over a period of several years.
Anti-UKIP blog Hope Not Hate earlier this week posted screenshots of Alan Harris ā who is the partyās Prospective Parliamentary Candidate in Oxford West and Abingdon, allegedly making anti-gay comments on his Facebook.
The candidate appeared to say: āwhy cant i say in my own bloody country black is still a colour and gay are still queersā
He also allegedly posted about āf**king Muslimsā refusing to serve him a ābacon sandwichā.
However, Mr Harris ā who has since deleted both his Facebook page and candidate page entirely ā denies all wrongdoing.
He told The Independent: āIām absolutely disgusted. My account has been hacked ā again. You know what Facebook is like.
āI wouldnāt say anything about gay people because I have a gay son. Iāve got lots of Asian friends. I never said any of this.ā
The comments were spread from a period ranging from October 2011 until February 2013 ā so presumably Mr Harris was hacked a number of times, over and over.
A spokesman for UKIP previously said the allegations were being looked into.
