Restaurant with scantily-clad male waiters to open in Texas
A restaurant is opening in the gay neighbourhood of Dallas which appears to be the gay equivalent of sleazy chain Hooters.
Hooters is a popular chain in the US, known for employing attractive young waitresses who dress in often-revealing uniforms.
However, the self-proclaimed ‘brestauraunt’ is facing competition in the gay market – from new Dallas restaurant Tallywackers.
The new restaurant, which is set to open on Lemmon Avenue according to the Dallas Eater blog, is currently looking to hire a number of topless male waiters.
Tallywackers held an event this week – in which potential employees were required to pose in their boxers. It teased the photos on Facebook.
An ad for the restaurant states: “Dallas’ Newest and most exciting place to be is now hiring for all positions! Bartenders, Servers, Cooks, Bus Boys and Hosts welcome to apply!”
Dallas Eater pondered: “If Hooters and Twin Peaks are considered breastaurants, does that make Tallywackers a… dickstaurant?”
However, Texas State Representative Rick Miller last month filed a bill that would void all equal rights ordinances in the state that protect workers on such grounds.
Mr Miller’s own gay son condemned the bill, for aiming to strip protections from workers.
