Bruce Jenner credits Kanye for Kim Kardashian’s support
The former Olympic athlete said step-daughter Kim Kardashian’s support is thanks to Kanye West.
Bruce Jenner came out as trans in an interview broadcast last night. The star spoke about the reactions from family members, and said step-daughter Kim Kardashian was one of the most supportive.
Jenner said this was in part due to her husband, rapper Kanye West.
Jenner said: “Kim told me a story. She goes, ‘You know what really turned me around in thinking about this? Kanye.
“They were talking about it, and he said to Kim, ‘Look, I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and I am. I can have the most beautiful little daughter in the world. I have that. But I’m nothing if I can’t be me…if I can’t be true to myself they don’t mean anything.’
“And since then, Kimberly has been by far the most accepting, and the easiest to talk to about it.
“She said, ‘Girl, you gotta rock it, baby. You gotta look good! If you’re doing this thing, I’m helping you. You’re representing the family. You gotta look really good.'”
In 2009, Kanye spoke about his evolving view of gay people. He said: “Coming from Chicago, where if you saw somebody that was gay you were supposed to stay ten feet away.
“It took me time to break out of the mental prisons I was in. The stereotypes of the fear of the backlash that I would get if you don’t believe what I believe in, accepting people for who they are.
“I’ve flown across the world y’all, and I’ve come back here to tell you—open your minds and live a happier life.”
