Watch: This baseball crowd’s reaction to a gay couple on the kiss cam may surprise you
A gay couple kissed on the kiss cam for the first time at this baseball stadium at the weekend, and you may be surprised at the reaction from the crowd.
The kiss cam took place during the game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium on Saturday.
When the camera settled on this gay couple during the tradition, some of the biggest cheers were heard from the crowd.
According to a number of reports, this was the first time a gay couple have featured on the Dodger stadium kiss cam.
Sometimes the camera would focus on two straight men, in an effort to make them feel uncomfortable, and to the amusement of the fans, however this tradition has more recently been met with criticism, and accusations of homophobia.
The dodgers have been praised for featuring the couple on the kiss cam, although this is not the first time a gay couple have been featured as in 2011, the San Francisco Giants featured two men on their AT&T Park version of the tradition.
Some have noted, however that the Giants’ same-sex kiss took place at an LGBT night, and have praised the Dodgers for getting one up, having featured the kiss on a non-LGBT specific night.
Others note that the Dodgers have seemingly come a long way since 2000, when a lesbian couple were kicked out of the park for kissing during the game.
