Madonna stirs controversy with gay Muslim-Jewish kiss
Madonna has stirred controversy again – by advertising her album with a picture of a Muslim man kissing a Jewish man.
The pop singer posted a controversial picture on her Instagram of a man in traditional Islamic dress on the verge of kissing a Jewish man.
She captioned the image with her album title “#rebelhearts” – as well as adding a heart emoji.
The image has sparked debate among fans who interpreted it as a comment on the Palestine conflict, as well as a statement on Islam’s attitude towards homosexuality.
It isn’t the first time Madonna has sparked debate in the same way – getting flak from her gay fans last month after declaring the late Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher – who passed Section 28 and opposed LGBT rights – an “‘#unapologetic #rebelheart”.
After criticism, the gay icon swiftly deleted the post – but it had already been spread widely online.
Madonna is well-known for her gay fanbase and is a strong supporter of LGBT rights.
She recently joined Grindr to chat to a number of fans about her new album.
The singer previously caused controversy by claiming that gay rights are “way more advanced” than women’s rights.
