Was the ‘remove Caitlyn Jenner’s medals’ petition actually a hoax?

The petition asking for Caitlyn Jennerā€™s Olympic medals to be removed is likely to be a hoax by 4chan trolls.

Signed by thousands of people yesterday,the change.org petition states that as she competed in the menā€™s event, her medals should no longer be valid since she has spoken about her identity as a woman.

Jenner won a gold medal in the menā€™s decathlon in the 1976 Olympics, as well as gold in the same event in the 1975 Pan American Games.

The step-parent to the Kardashians, Caitlyn Jenner revealed her new name as she appeared on the latest cover of Vanity Fair.

However, a post on the notorious 4chan /b forum, which often creates hoaxes and ā€œtrollsā€, shows that the petition may have have been created as a way to ā€œf*** with feminists and tranniesā€.

The post states: ā€œAs we all know, Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner) is an Olympic gold medallist. Good for her, except thereā€™s one problemā€¦

ā€œIf Caitlyn has always been a woman, then she should NOT have competed on the menā€™s side in the 1975/6 olympics and should give up her medals.

ā€œSo letā€™s write a peititon, /b, to the International Olympic Committee demanding that Jenner stay true to the transgender cause and vacate her wins in the Olympics due to competeing with the wrong genderā€.

The final petition says: ā€œIt is only fair to all involved that women receive their credit as champions of the Decathlon and that the men racing Ms. Jenner are not expected to compete with a superior, streamlined being such as herself.

ā€œWe urge Ms. Jenner to support the transgender community by giving up the medals earned by competing against the wrong gender.ā€
