Tom Cruise’s son slammed for Caitlyn Jenner tweets
Connor Cruise, son of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, tweeted his displeasure at Caitlyn Jenner receiving a courage award.
The step-parent to the Kardashians, Caitlyn Jenner revealed her new name as she appeared on the latest cover of Vanity Fair.
She is set to receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs on July 15.
In the now deleted tweets, Connor Cruise said: “Really? Winning the AA award for courage? Ashton is gonna come out and yell PUNK’D.
“Don’t get me wrong. Do what you feel like doing and don’t let anyone stop you. But everyone is taking this way too seriously…
“There are so many more important things that should be talked about … And SO MANY MORE IMPORTANT PEOPLE that actually deserve an award.”
He went on to say: “Totally twisting what I said, if you read what I said I totally support being happy and am glad she is happy.
“We just need to as a nation and a world get back to business and making everything a better place.”
Many Twitter users commented that a good start would be for him to stop talking.
In 2012, Connor Cruise was forced to apologise after using the word “gay” as a pejorative in a tweet.
A Twitter bot has been correcting people who use the wrong pronoun to refer to Caitlyn Jenner.
