‘RIP Gandalf’ – People confuse Sir Christopher Lee with Sir Ian McKellen
People appear to be accidentally mourning the death of Sir Ian McKellen – after his Lord of the Rings co-star Sir Christopher Lee passed away.
Christopher Lee, who played Saruman in the film series, passed away this week at the age of 93.
However, the Independent reports that fans have taken to Twitter to mourn the loss of “Gandalf” – who was played by the very-much-alive actor Sir Ian McKellen.
Sir Christopher Lee passed away on Sunday at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, after being hospitalised for respiratory problems and heart failure.
Tributes have been paid to the veteran actor, who is known for his appearance in the fantasy films, as well as his roles as Count Dooku in the Star Wars franchise and Francisco Scaramanga in James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun.
McKellen was definitely still living last night, when he locked lips with Patrick Stewart at the premiere of his film Mr Holmes.
Sir Ian was accompanied to the event at the Odeon cinema in Kensington by his close friend and X-Men colleague Sir Patrick, who is straight.
Posing for the cameras, the pair joked around – before sending the assembled media into a frenzy by sharing a smooch.
