Woman kicked out of female toilets for ‘looking like a man’
A woman claims she was kicked out of a female toilet in a restaurant for ‘looking male’ – but she is not transgender.
Detroit woman Cortney Bogorad has launched legal action against restaurant chain Fishbones, after she was ordered out of the toilets by a security worker.
Right-wingers in the US have recently been scaremongering about the ‘threats’ of trans women using female toilets – but Ms Bogorad is not transgender.
She told ABC: “As I came out of the stall, this gentleman – who was a security guard – came in the bathroom, and before I was even completely out of the bathroom he grabbed me by the arms and pushed me up against the wall, told me that boys aren’t allowed in this restroom.
“This could have happened to anybody. There are lots of females out there with short hair. some people might think we’re boys, but, at the end of the day, we’re not.”
According to the Detroit Free Press, the lawsuit states: “Defendant John Doe did not listen to plaintiff and did not allow plaintiff to show him her identification to prove that she was female.
“Defendant John Doe instead approached Plaintiff, inches away from her face, and shouted, ‘Get out of the women’s restroom!'”
Ignoring the woman’s protests the lawsuit claims the unnamed guard “aggressively pushed her out of the restroom, into the restaurant”.
The woman is suing for compensation, claiming: “As a direct and proximate result of the defendants’ wrongful acts, plaintiff not only suffered physical damages, but suffered severe embarrassment, humiliation, shock and mental and emotional distress and anguish.”
Detroit law bans discrimination based on gender identity or expression.
Republican Mike Huckabee recently ‘joked’ that he wants to be transgender to spy on girls in the shower.
