Vandals deface Latino artist’s LGBT mural for a second time
Twice within the same week vandals have defaced the LGBT mural in San Francisco’s Mission District.
The mural was vandalised last week, with the faces of gay couples having been crossed out with paint.
Manuel Paul’s mural has been vandalised again overnight, but this time they have reported by San Francisco’s news station, KQED, to have been caught on camera.
The mural located on 24th Street has been spray painted over again, this time with black spray paint, not blue and red like earlier this week. As appose to last time, the vandals have spray painted over each of the five figures pictured in the mural.
Whereas the first time they strangely left the transgender man in the centre undamaged.
Ani Rivera, the owner of Galeria de la Raza, told KQED that the security camera showed two vandals spray painting the mural at around midnight on Sunday.
However, this footage will not yet be released to the media as it needs to be reviewed by the San Francisco Police Department first for further investigation.
Having been quickly restored the first time round by volunteers, Galeria de la Raza are now fundraising again for it to be restored for a second time.
