Jewish group hire Mexican labourers to protest NYC Pride
An anti-gay Jewish group paid Mexican day labourers to dress up as Orthodox Jews and protest NYC Pride.
When asked if they were Jewish, the men reportedly confirmed that they were not, and had been paid to hold signs.
The signs included “G-d created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve”, “Judaism prohibits homosexuality”, and “Today man marries man, tomorrow man marries sister”.
Heshie Freed, a member of the group who organised the protest, said the labourers were there to fill in for yeshiva students who would otherwise have been at the protest.
He told the New York Times: “The rabbis said that the yeshiva boys shouldn’t come out for this because of what they would see at the parade.”
Pictures show the Mexican men dressed in Tzitzit prayer garments, and even some with fake sidelocks.

Towards the end of the parade, the metal fence around the Jewish group collapsed, and Pride attendees clashed with the protesters – with one woman saying a protester attempted to punch her, before she punched him back and left a cut on his eye.
Mr Freed said: “It’s been a lot of confrontation. Whenever you have emotions, you have a situation.”
New York has a large Jewish population – the majority of whom are LGBT-friendly.
A Christian minister yesterday said that the Supreme Court decision on same-sex marriage was the fault of Jews.
