Watch: Donald Trump asked ‘what is traditional about being married three times?’
During an interview last week, Donald Trump was asked in relation to his opposition to same-sex marriage: “what’s traditional about being married three times?”
Sitting down with CNN’s Jake Tapper, the Republican Presidential candidate was asked how he could justify saying he supports “traditional marriage”, when he has been married three times.
“What do you say to a lesbian who’s married or a gay man who’s married who says, ‘Donald Trump, what’s traditional about being married three times?’” Tapper asked.
“Well, they have a very good point,” said Trump. “But I’ve been a very hardworking person. And actually, I have a great marriage, I have a great wife now. My [first] two wives were very good.”
When pushed to answer the question, Trump responded: “I really don’t say anything… I’m just, Jake, I’m for traditional marriage.”

Mr Trump, a billionaire businessman who is known for appearing on the US version of reality show The Apprentice, became the latest Republican to announce a bid for a White House last week.
The TV star – who previously explained he opposes same-sex marriage because he “just don’t feel good about it” – revealed his long-rumoured campaign at Trump Tower in New York.
No expense was spared for the launch – and according to some reports, that also goes for the crowd who ‘cheered’ his announcement, who were apparently paid $50 each to be there.
Despite Mr Trump’s public opposition to the rights of gay couples to marry, actor George Takei said previously that Trump privately admitted he has attended a same-sex wedding and that he’d found it ‘beautiful’.
