Hillary Clinton tells gay teen: Your future will be amazing
Hillary Clinton has left a message for a gay teen worried about his sexuality on blog Humans of New York.
The popular photojournalist project, which is run by Brandon Stanton, attracts a huge following both on Facebook and across the internet.
HONY posts daily pictures of everyday people around New York, as well as an often-profound interview snippet.
This week, the blogger posted a picture of a young boy worrying that “people won’t like me” because “I’m homosexual”.
It attracted hundreds and thousands of likes and comments – and even a message of support from Democratic Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.
Using her official Facebook account, she wrote: “Prediction from a grown-up: Your future is going to be amazing.
“You will surprise yourself with what you’re capable of and the incredible things you go on to do.
“Find the people who love and believe in you – there will be lots of them. -H”
However, the comment was wiped when over-zealous Facebook admins banned the photo through a “technical glitch”.
According to Jezebel, Stanton complained: “Seems that Facebook removed the young man’s brave statement and is now preventing me from uploading any further photos.
“I’m hoping it was a mistake. It is currently still on Instagram and I’m trying to figure out how to get it back up.”
After complaints from the blog’s legions of fans, Facebook reversed the decision and allowed the photo to be reposted.
However, the message for the boy from the former Secretary of State was gone.
