Did this Seinfeld joke about trans people overstep a line?
A joke about transgender people Jerry Seinfeld made on his new online series has attracted criticism.
Seinfeld, who is no stranger to controversy, made the joke on his ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’ series, which featured Stephen Colbert.
He made two jokes, and in the first he asked whether his daughter was “having a sex change”, when Colbert says the car on his driveway is his daughter’s “soon to be his son’s”.
Then the second, he says: “Isn’t it just a matter of time before transgender is an airline? You just get on one sex and you get off the other one.”
Many have pointed out how awkward Colbert looks sat in the passenger seat.
